Today is the 12th day of Israel's murderous attacks on Gaza.
The Palestinian body count is 336, 70 of whom are kids. This has become a murderous spree of killing for the zionist terrorist army, supported by government of this racist colonial entity and by their people , many of whom have been turning increasingly into blood thirsty mobs urging the murder of Palestinian
On the eve of Abu Khudair’s lynching, Member of Knesset (Israel’s parliament) and government faction whip Ayelet Shaked issued a call over Facebook to ethnically cleanse the land, declaring “the entire Palestinian people is the enemy.” She advocated their complete destruction, “including its elderly and its women,” adding that these must be slaughtered, otherwise they might give birth to more “little snakes.”
... Since the beginning of July, raging crowds of Jewish Israelis just like these have marched through Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Nazareth and Beer Sheva, chanting “Death to Arabs” and “Death to Leftists,” swarming and attacking vulnerable victims. While a tiny contingent of radical Israelis have formed a loose “anti-fascist” network that tries to patrol city streets and prevent additional lynchings, they are extremely few in numbers and cannot be everywhere at all times.
While Israeli leaders unleash conscripted soldiers to bombard Gaza, they dispatch ultra-nationalist vigilantes to conquer cities inside Israel. With the incitement to murder Palestinians (and the few Israeli allies they have) continue unabated, it seems to be only a matter of time before the bubbling bloodlust boils overs into a bloodbath.
I am sure that you, the people behind Archinect, are well aware of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, this racist colonial entity that has been described by Moshé Machover as being far worse than the south african apartheid system: "talk of Israeli ‘apartheid’ serves to divert attention from much greater dangers. For, as far as most Palestinians are concerned, the Zionist policy is far worse than apartheid. Apartheid can be reversed. Ethnic cleansing is immeasurably harder to reverse; at least not in the short or medium term."
The global BDS movement is a peaceful movement that has been, in the face of Israeli racist, oppressive and genocidal policies against the Palestinians, garnering great traction around the world as people everywhere are increasingly grasping the nature of the Zionist establishment that is called Israel. Through a deliberate, effective boycotting Israeli products, academics, businesses, items of interest, the movement contributes to the economic and moral isolation of Israel.
“In light of Israel’s persistent violations of international law, and Given that, since 1948, hundreds of UN resolutions have condemned Israel’s colonial and discriminatory policies as illegal and called for immediate, adequate and effective remedies, and Given that all forms of international intervention and peace-making have until now failed to convince or force Israel to comply with humanitarian law, to respect fundamental human rights and to end its occupation and oppression of the people of Palestine, and In view of the fact that people of conscience in the international community have historically shouldered the moral responsibility to fight injustice, as exemplified in the struggle to abolish apartheid in South Africa through diverse forms of boycott, divestment and sanctions..."
I notice that there are Israeli businesses being hosted within Archinect's firm listings (for example). As are listings of Israeli universities within the academic section. I highly urge Archinect, the people behind it, Paul, the editors, the writers....to desist from ignoring your responsibilities apropos taking a stand against this racist entity and to remove all Israeli related material from Archinect. You, like everyone else has that responsibility, because you have the knowledge and you have the right of choice. To ignore this is to be complacent and to be regressive.
As a virtual space that spans the social, the professional and the academic, as a gathering of professionals including architects, designers, artists, engineers and others, as a gathering of minds that by implication suggests a progressive humanist endeavor, please instate an anti-zionist, anti-israeli policy (that covers israeli academics, businesses, media, etc) in the spirit of the BDS movement.

Archinect, more reason to boycott Israeli architects?
ARC.PEACE has noted with dismay that Israeli architects engage in the design of illegal Jewish settlements on expropriated Palestinian land in the Occupied Territories. These activities are in clear violation of the code of ethics of the International Union of Architects (UIA) which says that “there shall be no attempt to impose solutions of one society on other societies” (article 1:2) and that professionals shall fashion an environment “expressive of the genius of the people abd reflective of the substance of their culture” (article 3).

TAMMUZ, your comments are written with almost feverish speed and desperation. There is such thing as politics and then there is something else, maybe deeper, maybe tinged with a sense of loss in your life. Your earlier posts (not related to middle eastern affairs) in which you muse about your career, your sadness and depression and your attitudes about the field of architecture in general point to this lack of something missing in your life. maybe when you come to terms with this you will find something else to obsess about.

So my fellow Americans will probably be surprised to learn that the U.S. is more or less the only country in the world which has a favorable view of Israel.
Specifically, a 2012 BBC poll found that the U.S. and Nigeria were the only countries of those polled in which the majority of people had favorable views of Israel:

Older, White American Males Are Virtually the Only People In the World Who Unconditionally Support Israel
Even with the United States, there are only certain groups which support Israel.
A new poll by Pew this month shows that it is mainly Americans 50 years or older, males, conservatives and evangelicals who support Israel:

Wasn't much of a cease fire. Sounds like Hamas used he opportunity to launch a bunch of rockets as soon as the sun set. Didn't the propaganda groups you're copying this from tell you that? Or is it not on-message yet to point out this is happening because Hamas doesn't want it to stop? They'll give you something to copy/paste pretty soon.

If you have ever visited a blog or on-line discussion group on the Middle East you have doubtless had the misfortune to run into them.
They are known by the language they use: depraved sexual insults, bile, bigotry, threats, disinformation and character assassination. That’s right: I’m talking about “hasbarats,” Zionist trolls who infect the Internet with hasbara, pro-Israel propaganda. Of course, mainstream media hasbarats have been around for decades, as have “hasbaratchiks,” fifth-columns in foreign governments who subvert national policies to serve Israel. The Internet, though, is the latest, some might say the greatest, propaganda playground, and Israel cannot cope with factual, passionate, well-documented stories that expose its war crimes and unrepentant criminality.
If you’ve come across a hasbarat, on-line or otherwise, you have learned that no amount of reasoned argument or intellectual maturity has any effect. That’s because hasbarats don’t care if they come across as ignorant, obnoxious, nasty or inane. All that matters for them is sabotaging criticism of Israel and support for Muslims. They’re like anti-intellectual stink bombs: designed to cause maximum discomfort but have little if any real power.
The passionate support for Israel expressed on talkback sections of websites, internet chat forums, blogs, Twitters and Facebook may not be all that it seems.
Israel’s foreign ministry is reported to be establishing a special undercover team of paid workers whose job it will be to surf the internet 24 hours a day spreading positive news about Israel.
Internet-savvy Israeli youngsters, mainly recent graduates and demobilised soldiers with language skills, are being recruited to pose as ordinary surfers while they provide the government’s line on the Middle East conflict
Various Israeli academic institutions have introduced courses and programs on hasbara— the Hebrew-language term used to describe Israel’s attempts to re-brand its image as its occupation and military aggression makes it increasingly unpopular worldwide.
A new report from the Academic Watch Project shows that instead of promoting critical thought and inquiry, these courses at academic institutions serve to promote the policies of the State of Israel and the whitewashing of its crimes. The Academic Watch Project is a group of Palestinian students at Israeli academic institutions dedicated to exposing discrimination within Israeli academia and its connection with Israel’s military occupation and apartheid policies.
In the immediate aftermath of the Israeli Navy’s massacre of 9 activists on the Mavi Marmara, I began a journalistic process of discrediting wild and fabricated claims by the Israeli Army Spokesman’s Unit about the incident. Around this time, when my blog began receiving unprecedented traffic, several hasbara trolls suddenly occupied my comments section. They have maintained a constant presence ever since, dragging the discussion into the gutter with propagandistic arguments and absurd personal attacks on me and other commenters — there isn’t much else to do when you are defending a country that behaves like Israel does.
Archinect, do you support the death innocents, the deportation of an indigeneous population, mass oppression and persectution? If not, please boycott Israel.

Remember Operaction Cast Lead 2008 as well? 1400 dead and 300 children dead. And still America supports Israel.
Israel has killed almost 800 Palestinians in the past twenty-one days in the Gaza Strip alone; its onslaught continues. The UN estimates that more than 74 percent of those killed are civilians. That is to be expected in a population of 1.8 million where the number of Hamas members is approximately 15,000. Israel does not deny that it killed those Palestinians using modern aerial technology and precise weaponry courtesy of the world’s only superpower. In fact, it does not even deny that they are civilians.
Israel’s propaganda machine, however, insists that these Palestinians wanted to die (“culture of martyrdom”), staged their own death (“telegenically dead”) or were the tragic victims of Hamas’s use of civilian infrastructure for military purposes (“human shielding”). In all instances, the military power is blaming the victims for their own deaths, accusing them of devaluing life and attributing this disregard to cultural bankruptcy. In effect, Israel—along with uncritical mainstream media that unquestionably accept this discourse—dehumanizes Palestinians, deprives them even of their victimhood and legitimizes egregious human rights and legal violations.
Rick + roll, you are a moron. It makes me sick to see people feel the need to pick a side as if this is a football game. Hamas bad Israel good...Israel bad Hamas good. Shut the fuck up already. Israel is killing innocent people and Hamas is attempting to do the same. Both are wrong. The people of both areas deserve better but its clear that the Palestinian people have it far worse. You cannot possibly deny that. Where would you feel more Safe? Since Israel is bigger and stronger than Hamas I would expect them to try and use restraint Their lack of restraint IMO makes them a complete shame to humanity. They also have way more power to broker a peace deal but they are unwilling to do so.

jla-x. it is very likely that this is Rick + roll's job. I'm not joking; I've made a reference here to trolls being employed to pedal Israel's side.
I've asked you to look at the even wider context - why is this going on, what is Gaza, who are the Palestinians, who are the Zionists- but you don't want to, jla-x.
How am I a moron? I just want archinect to return to its previous state. I'm not the only one who feels that way. Or am I?

Look, I'll be honest. I could give to shits about either side. Go ahead, keep killing each other. Your paranoia is hilarious, I guess that's what all hummus are lie, huh?
actually its a very touching speech and underlines the tragedies that the jews had to suffer at the hands of the nazis and the suffering the palestinians have to suffer at the hands of the israelis. again, i believe the jewish people have been victimized by Zionism - a ethno-nationalistic ideology alien to the jewish religion- after they were victimized by Nazism.
why do the Palestinians have to bear the brunt of the pathological outcomes of European racism?

That's not what you are arguing. To argue for archinect to return to its previous state is one thing, that's a valid argument, but to argue that it's ok to blow up kids so that you can win an argument with the goal of "returning archinect to its original state" is a far more disgusting and anti-intellectual thing to do. I would prefer to make fun of Patrick Schumacher and to talk about how stupid NCARB is, but this forum is not mine or yours. I wish Tammuz would frame this topic in a way more relevant to architecture/urbanism... There are architectural issues in here...I also wish he would look at this issue in a broader more anthropological/sociological way but that's his/her choice.
This is a democratic site and you can start a different thread if you want and out compete this one. Thought us Americans supported free press and democracy. I hate this idea of protectionism and regulation in the practice of architecture and I also hate this idea of protectionism and regulation on archinect.

Come off it, JLA. We both know neither side is in the right. So why even try and have a proper discourse. At the end of the day, there is always going to be single-sided arguments. It's kind of like trying to change a republicans opinions about obama-care.
chatter of clouds
Jul 27, 14 3:30 pm
firstly, jla-x, you;re too nice and you can't see that Rick+roll is playing you. She or he is playing the "both sides are wrong"card to regain your sympathy - because she or he knows where you stand. However, this guy or gal is without doubt pro-Zionist - she or he has proves it elsewhere. But, given the overt evidence of Israel's atrocities that she or he will not be able to justify...she or he resolves to the second best ploy so as to keep on demonizing the Palestinian side in the least/
Now ..about your post...jla-x, unfortunately the repellent incidents happening in Gaza at the hand of Israelis (you can check the civilian statistics yourself...and you can compare it to the Israeli civilian casualties to see who is deliberately targetting civilians) and the unfairness of the overall situation - and the general ignorance of Americans when it comes to the Middle East because of the bias of the media there as well as the support of your own government (yes, your money is complicit in the murder of these kids, i'm sorry to say) - compels me to bring this here and to ask Archinect to boycott Israel.
You might say, but what does this have to do with Archinect and architecture...topically speaking? What do musicians have to do topically with Israel? Artists, scientists, Steven Hawking, Nobel laureates, companies and firms around the world, the RIBA...etc etc? Yet, they boycott.
It is pointless to say that the Boycott Israel movement doesn't belong here because its not topical....the Boycott Israel belongs everywhere - all cultural, professional, business, communal enterprises and organizations as well as at the level of the individual- because this is a humanist peaceful movement to economically, militarily, logistically disable an ongoing genocide. I'm not telling Archinect to launch rockets at Israel for goodness's sake; I'm just inviting it to boycott that racist colony.
And there were a few posts here that touched on how planning policies are being used by that apartheid state of Israel to oppress, incarcerate and eventually eliminate the presence of Palestinians on their homeland.

Tammy, there you go again with the paranoia. No, I'm not any of those guys you think I am. They're probably at home drinking a beer without a care in the world. Why would I want to regain JLA's sympathy( in case you didn't notice my username is rick Troll) I could care less about what he thinks. Unfortunately, this keeps thread keeps popping back up.

I didn;t say you were the other guys, troll, I said there was an army of trolls. And you seem to be leading at the moment.
now, to jla-x ..."both sides are wrong" is tantamount to saying well, fine they are both morally equally culpable ...so their culpabilities cancel each other out, so whatever......without thinking about whose civilians are getting killed in a proportion of what..i'm guessing here but... 80 Palestinian civilians to 1 Israeli? how about proportion of children? 300 to 0?
saying "both sides are wrong" is tantamount to saying...well, both of their histories are as crappy and murderous as the other's. Is that really true? Did both sides colonize each others lands, have a long list of massacres training behind them, or being undertaken right now or being prepared for in the future? Did both sides starve each other off, turn the other side's water off, routinely assassinate people from the other side? Do they both humilate each other at their respective checkpoints, force each other's pregnant women to give birth htere? Do they both train their dogs to attack the other at the sound of a religious exclamation?
no, both sides are not "both wrong". this is an obfuscating, complicit, morally despicable claim that makes the weight of the feather in terms of guilt equal to the weight of a boulder.

there you go, another troll. troll no.2, this is the third time you bring this up. after some time, it just stops being effective and just is petty. Archinect, does this not qualify as spamming?
Today is the 12th day of Israel's murderous attacks on Gaza.
The Palestinian body count is 336, 70 of whom are kids. This has become a murderous spree of killing for the zionist terrorist army, supported by government of this racist colonial entity and by their people , many of whom have been turning increasingly into blood thirsty mobs urging the murder of Palestinian
........................................................................................................
From Israeli calls for Palestinian blood ring at fever pitch :
With the incitement to murder Palestinians (and the few Israeli allies they have) continue unabated, it seems to be only a matter of time before the bubbling bloodlust boils overs into a bloodbath.
............................................................................................................
As you might know, there is also the US Campaign for the Academic & Cultural Boycott of Israel , whose mission statement states the following:
Israeli architects must stop designing illegal settlements
I wish we can embed videos here like with pics, anyway, give this a listen

So my fellow Americans will probably be surprised to learn that the U.S. is more or less the only country in the world which has a favorable view of Israel.
Specifically, a 2012 BBC poll found that the U.S. and Nigeria were the only countries of those polled in which the majority of people had favorable views of Israel:
Sorry, that was 2012, Nigeria doesn't like Israel either in 2013
Same source as above (ok, only because its so predictable that its funny)

Propoganda, you say? :
They’re like anti-intellectual stink bombs: designed to cause maximum discomfort but have little if any real power.
mes and unrepentant criminality.
Israel’s Internet War

in Nazareth.
"Hasbara" courses at Israeli universities exposed in new report
Interesting read: Portrait of a Hasbara Troll
Snippet:

England: Imams and Rabbis lead pro-Palestine march on Al Quds day
Archinect, do you support the death innocents, the deportation of an indigeneous population, mass oppression and persectution? If not, please boycott Israel.
Remember Operaction Cast Lead 2008 as well? 1400 dead and 300 children dead. And still America supports Israel.
Israel began “Operation Cast Lead” on December 27th 2008, which left some 1,400 Palestinians – largely civilians – dead, and wounded more than 5,000. The Israeli Army tried to excuse its attack on the Abuelaish household by claiming its soldiers believed militants were operating from the residence. The Israeli government never issued an apology or any of the promised compensation as a result of their mistake

Professor Mads Gilbert: Suspicion that Gaza is being used to test new weaponry
Five Israeli Talking Points on Gaza—Debunked

Israeli Propaganda: Make the Lie Big.flv
I've asked you to look at the even wider context - why is this going on, what is Gaza, who are the Palestinians, who are the Zionists- but you don't want to, jla-x.
anyway, watch this as well
How am I a moron? I just want archinect to return to its previous state. I'm not the only one who feels that way. Or am I?
That coming from a troll who only came here after this thread was started. Of course it would want Archinect to go back to its previous state - ie before any criticism of Israel ever surfaced.
Look, I'll be honest. I could give to shits about either side. Go ahead, keep killing each other. Your paranoia is hilarious, I guess that's what all hummus are lie, huh?
well, in that case you wouldn't mind me posting
UK Jewish MP: Israel acting like Nazis in Gaza
actually its a very touching speech and underlines the tragedies that the jews had to suffer at the hands of the nazis and the suffering the palestinians have to suffer at the hands of the israelis. again, i believe the jewish people have been victimized by Zionism - a ethno-nationalistic ideology alien to the jewish religion- after they were victimized by Nazism.
why do the Palestinians have to bear the brunt of the pathological outcomes of European racism?
I'd probably be able to take these right wing muslim extremist groups a little more seriously if they didn't sound so fucking tasty. To start I'd like some Tamil tiger prawns, for my main an al shabab with a side order of Hamas
Rick, holy shit. These extremist groups are fucking morons and their violent tactics are atrocious but this does not mean that Israel is any better.
Come off it, JLA. We both know neither side is in the right. So why even try and have a proper discourse. At the end of the day, there is always going to be single-sided arguments. It's kind of like trying to change a republicans opinions about obama-care.
firstly, jla-x, you;re too nice and you can't see that Rick+roll is playing you.
Like I said I want some good old fashion architecture discussions to happen. I've never had to join because usually a quick search found me the answers I was looking for.
"three or four individuals attacking incessantly (let me not count you in - i give you the credit of a doubt(is that the expression?) don;t just simultaneously withdraw and, at that time, another coincidental emergence of another group which is unusual in Archinect.........Now I'm expecting them to use a mixed technique. To disprove me. It would be the predictable next move."
You sure hinted at it.
No troll, I didn't make that assumption. I could care less of you're one or the Legion. But what is becoming clear is that you are troll/s.
