Lincoln Park Community Service’s (LPCS) mission is to empower individuals facing homelessness and poverty to secure stable housing and make sustainable life changes. 

In order to meet the increasing demand for quality services, they needed a new facility to both open a new permanent supportive housing program and grow their interim housing capacity, as well as support their administrative offices – all on the same site.

The project is an adaptive reuse project of a former kitchen and bath showroom building and a new addition. The interim housing/shelter and administrative offices are in the renovated rear building and the 20 permanent supportive housing units are in the front addition. 

The courtyard, situated between the front and rear buildings, provides natural light and ventilation for both buildings and serves as an adjacent outdoor space for the LPCS community to gather.

This transit-oriented development is directly adjacent to a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Brown Line station, allowing for enhanced accessibility to the facility for the clients and residents.
