About

Mishou Sanchez has a Masters in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCIARC) in Los Angeles, CA, (2007). She also has a Bachelor’s Degree Fine Art in Interior Design from the Ringling School of Art and Design (RCAD) in Sarasota, FL. (2001). Before graduating from Ringling, she was selected by Steelcase Student Design Exchange (2000) as one of the top 20 Interior Design and Architecture Students in North America. After Ringling, she moved to Portland, OR, where she worked as the sole Interior Designer underMichael Czysz at Architropolis. There, she worked for clients such as Lenny KravitzCindy CrawfordRande Gerber, The Midnight Oil Company, and The Green Valley Ranch Resort and Casino. Prior to her entering into graduate school, she worked at SJvD Design under Sybil vanDjis in Belmont Shore, CA. While working for SJvD, she designed for clients such as Michael JacksonThe Hotel Bel-Air, The Sultan of Brunei, and the renovation of “Miramonte,” a residence originally designed by Walter Gropius. During her final semester at SCIARC, she attended the Desert Studio (Cal-Earth) taught by Nadar Khalili and Illiona Outram. While at Cal-Earth in Hysperia, CA, she designed a sustainable permaculture living system to be utilized by The American Sudanese Partnerships in Darfur, Sudan, to assist in the survival of the refugees. It has been said that if the system is successful, it will be mass-produced by UNICEF for humanitarian relief in African deserts. After graduation from SCIARC, Mishou moved back to Tampa, FL, to be closer to her family and briefly worked forArchitecture Plus International in Tampa, FL. During her time there she developed avant garde concepts for a Walmart in Mexico City and a hotel in Florida.

Artist, designer and spatial/color adventurist, Mishou Sanchez was born in 1976, in Tampa, Florida, to ethnically diverse parents and raised by her mother and grandparents. Mishou was born artistic and her mechanical inclinations were catalyzed by her beloved grandfather, Emilio Gonzalez. He would spend hours in his woodshop/garden, teaching her how to use tools, experimenting with splicing citrus trees and growing vegetables. During her childhood, she lived in Jamaica, Venezuela and spent many summers in her mother’s country, Costa Rica. It’s because of this early influence in knowing the importance and influence of cultural diversity, Mishou has travelled to over 33 countries and 139 cities. Due to her diverse cultural roots, she seamlessly melds many influences harmoniously. Living in her hometown, she branched off and launched her own design consulting firm named EVOLVEform LLC. She recently developed an art gallery named the Modern Bohemain utilizing only recycled shipping containers and has been a two-time John Guggenheim Fellowship Grant Finalist. She mostly lives/works as an artist but occasionally does design work for special clients. She volunteers and teaches to children as much as possible, and is planning a trip to Darfur, Sudan, to consult on the construction of her hospital design. She is also an award winning muralist for organizations such as The Boy Scouts of America (LA Chapter,) Blue Moon Beer (Miller Coors,) and The Boys and Girls Club. She also collaborated with her cousin, Tony Aguero, and started www.REartPink.com ; a guerrilla art project inviting the world to recycle, create and share art making the world an interactive gallery.
