Ministry of Architecture is making her live projects the object of practical education starting with a series of inventive houses envisioned to reimagine rustic building materials and looking for self-starters to participate in a virtual Charrette holding on 11th September 2021.

In Nigeria nay Africa, it is seeming we are ashamed of certain elements of our daily lives such that they are erased from our building lexicon. For instance, the oft-derided morsel-eating habits not accommodated in the living room, or the abundantly ubiquitous zinc roofing sheets so often discarded.

In the words of Baba Oladeji, Founder of Ministry of Architecture, “we have an opportunity to absorb what was once backwater into the mainstream through a modular house in Alabata, an obscure community just 6 minutes from one of Nigeria’s newly built train stations."

This series of virtual charrettes titled Modularizing Informality by the Ministry of Architecture seeks a participatory design avenue for aspiring architects where each participant creates a sketchy vision for the scheme and develops the same quickly with speed drawings into a full concept proposal.

Date      11 September 2021

Time     12pm – 5pm WAT

              7am - 12pm EDT [with breaks in-between]
