Mickus Projects is a multi-disciplinary design studio specializing in furniture, lighting, architecture and design strategy. Founded by Ben Mickus, and based in the San Francisco Bay Area, the studio takes on design, fabrication and often installation of their work. The issues of multi-sensory experience, interplay between materials, and craftsmanship enhanced by digital technology frame the practice at large. The studio’s design process is set up around a Venn diagram of research, collaboration, and experimental design, working closely with specialists and local craftsmen on every pursuit. Mickus Projects searches for clever ways to minimize the environmental impact of their work by calling attention to a sophisticated logic and intrinsic beauty.
