A Modern Building With A Sculptural Ceiling

Located in the heart of Moscow, this project blends classical and modern design. It features a dark processed metal facade with grunge patterns and a dynamic, wavy sculptural ceiling inspired by Fibonacci’s golden ratio and natural curves. The ceiling’s alternating opaque and transparent materials diffuse light organically. Incorporating biophilic design, the interior includes diverse plants, flexible layouts, and energy-efficient elements, creating a functional, restorative, and inspiring space that will be used for beauty salon co-working.

The main building features a dark processed metal facade with grunge patterns and geometric shapes that add a 3D sculptural value. These metallic surfaces are designed to protrude slightly, introducing a deconstructivist element that enhances the building’s minimalistic and elegant appearance. Frameless glass windows complement the metallic shell, providing a seamless and sophisticated exterior.

At the heart of the project is its dynamic, wavy sculptural ceiling, inspired by Fibonacci’s golden ratio and the natural curves found in nature, such as those of the human body. It’s dynamic and its wavy nature creates a sense of rhythm and movement, calming and soothing. This unique structure spans the ceiling level story and features alternating opaque and transparent materials that act as an organic diffuser, allowing soft beneficial light to pass through and be evenly distributed throughout the day, depending on the angle of the sun.

Biophilic design principles are central to the project, both inside and out. The building incorporates a diverse array of plants, including trees, hanging plants, foliage, and large potted plants like ficus and fiddle-leaf figs from Western African rainforests. These elements contribute to a vibrant and healthy environment, creating a microclimate that enhances air quality and provides restorative spaces.

The interior layout is designed for flexibility and adaptability, making it suitable for co-working spaces for beauty salons and other dynamic uses. The floor plan can be adjusted according to the evolving needs of the space, with movable dividers and workstations allowing for continuous transformation. Natural light, ventilation, and greenery also promote energy efficiency, reducing the building's overall energy consumption.

The building’s vaulted and domed structures draw inspiration from nearby Orthodox architecture. These metal and glass elements provide a modern interpretation of traditional forms, creating a sense of movement and dynamic interaction with the surrounding environment. The vaulted ceilings feature a "vault inside a vault" effect, enhancing the building's architectural complexity.

Luxury elements within the interior, such as spiral staircases with glass railings and nature-inspired details, add to the overall elegance and fluidity of the design. The integration of natural materials and organic forms creates a harmonious blend of sophistication and comfort.

Overall, this project seeks to enhance urban architecture by thoughtfully integrating materials, light, and biophilic design principles. It aims to offer a space that balances functionality with inspiration, reflecting ongoing developments in contemporary architecture.
