Tudor Revival architectural style was popular architecture style in NYC’s “banking suburbs.” Single family homes and apartment buildings in this styles are common in the Riverdale, Bronx area in addition to middle class areas of Brooklyn and Queens.
The architects of wealthy stockbrokers used the visual features common to English Tudor cottages. This trend lasted from 1920s to 1940s, right up until before the Second World War.
Thatched roofs, dormers, 1/2 timber & stucco façade, mullion windows and stone steps and retaining walls are iconic architectural features of this revival movement.
