As a replacement for the original Penrose Main library in the downtown district of Colorado Springs, this mixed-use urban complex for the Pikes Peak Library District includes parking garage, retail, indoor and outdoor performance spaces, and community roof-top garden. As part of creating a physically and visually accessible program, the project features a circuitous pathway at the perimeter of the library building (as an extended public sidewalk) with a series of public 'reading rooms', culminating at a public roof garden - the best view in town belongs to everyone. The project is currently in the design proposal and funding phase.
