This museum was design to celebrate the accomplishment of space traveling. The position of the space shuttle along with the framework, is suppose to recreate the illusion of flight; providing the visitor with a active and vivid experience. The Museum is located next to the retired intrepid, which stands on the Hudson River. Contradictory to the exposed naval spectacle, the shuttle is sheltered by a precast concrete structure to symbolize the mystery of space traveling.
