Located in the northern Queensland city of Townsville, Bayleaf is a high-end restaurant featuring Indian cuisine.
A 3-dimensional ceiling pattern is the primary expression of design in this space. The pattern is inspired by that of an Indian bayleaf, which is distinguishable from other bayleaf species. The bright lit yellow voids between ceiling box panels and the colorful patterned fabric panels on the vertical wall surfaces are inspired by the colorful spices of the Indian sub-continent. Below the window sill line, dark colors and utilitarian finshes and materials allow for easy maintenance.
The end result is a simple yet sophisticated dining hall subtly exciting the senses, in tune with the restaurant's modern Indian cuisine.
