When its educational model transitioned to a school-within-a-school concept, the 1960s-era Decatur Central High School building was ill-equipped to meet emerging needs. The phased renovation resulted in a 450,000 square-foot building hosting five small learning communities of approximately 350 students each.
Involved with the project from schematic design through construction; modeled the exterior envelope of the building using Architectural Desktop to generate construction documents including plans, elevations, and window details; rapidly modeled and produced different elevation design options and presentation graphics; coordinated exterior elevations with engineering disciplines; prepared specifications for internal and external masonry; reviewed submittals and shop drawings for masonry.
