ArchMedium Student Competition: London Public Library and Park Intervention
Partners: Blair Begbie and Chris Daemmrich
The binding of extended paths forms the spine of the London Public Library. Pedestrian, Metro Rail, tunnel and bridge passageways converge into two primary paths extruding through Potter's Fields Park. The point of the linear intersection situates the epiphany of the library: The Tower of Books. Layers of transporation connect Southwark and London. Interacting with the site, footpaths, metro lines and man traffic from the Tower Bridge inform the open-air passageways which act as circulation into the library. A port adjacent to the Thames River leads readers directly into the library
