About 

Mateus Rosa, from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has over seven years of international experience as an Architect, Landscape designer, and Urban designer. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from the University PUC-Rio in Brazil. At ETH-Zurich in Switzerland, he earned an Advanced Master's in Urban and Territorial Design.

Throughout his career, Mateus collaborated with a diverse range of projects, from the political critique of academic research to big-scale masterplans, reflecting his ability to define the design practice not as one isolated craft but rather as a complex field that intersects and expands itself throughout all facets of composing our contemporary life. Mateus’s work experience spans four continents: South and North America, Asia, and Europe.

Actively participated in the full life cycle of urban planning project development for both public and private sectors
•Produced and presented urban planning materials to various audiences including university and city-based steering committees, community engagement workshops, and special interest groups
•Utilized GIS ArcMap to produce graphics for physical and space needs analyses for university campus planning, affordable housing complex, and city redevelopment projects
•Produced final masterplan materials such as Design Manuals, Guidelines, and Framework Plans
•Led the development of an international private 7-acre residential project, including conceptual hand drawing sketches, GISdata analysis, and final rendering production using Rhinoceros and V-ray

NQH Architects, Ho Chi Minh City, VN, Project Manager

NQH Architects has completed over 400 projects across southeast Asia, such as residential villas and apartments, mixed-use buildings, and large-scale masterplans. NQH represents the Kenzo Tange office in Vietnam and collaborates with Norman Foster + Partners on the project of the Techcombank tower.
• Managed a team of architects and oversaw all aspects of a refurbishment project from concept to construction phase
• In charge of the Project concept development from sketch to the concept presentations using design software such as Revit, Sketchup, and Adobe Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop.
• Coordinated with Norman Foster design firm during a bank tower project based in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, holding meetings with key stakeholders, and communicating with local Vietnamese. authorities, and overseeing various aspects on the ground in Ho Chi Minh.
• Supervised technical drawings, ensuring drawings met local building codes and consistently communicating with all project partners.

A young and thriving architectural office working on large-scale projects such as resorts and parks.
• Developed concepts for multiple projects with a small team of architects completing a number of public works projects
• Completed development and detail drawings for the Airport in Cam Ranh as well as a number of other projects
• Worked on the production of renders, diagrams, and concept presentations using Lumion, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and many others.
• Production of technical drawings from schematic to construction. Made site visits and created AutoCAD renderings
• Made presentations for project stakeholders, explaining design concepts and/or updating interested parties on project progress
• Won contract for an urban plan of Han River, Da Nang, creating a plan with a team of architects from Vietnam and Singapore and communicating regularly with the Singapore team remotely and in-person to coordinate project plans

A research group based within the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). The primary research aim is to track and record, from a critical perspective, the process of urban transformation of the city of Rio de Janeiro due to mega-events culminating with the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As a Researcher from 2011 to 2016, I worked gathering data, graphic design development as well as exhibition organization.

A landscape design studio with well-established offices in Brazil, Portugal, and Vietnam. For over 30 years, dedicated to developing landscapes that are not only aesthetic but also feasible, practical to construct, and easy to maintain.
• Worked with a team of architects on several luxury residential projects, blending the exterior design of the landscape with interior design elements
• Completed concept presentations and took the project through all stages until completion, creating development and construction drawings as needed.

The Master of Advanced Studies(MAS) in Urban and Territorial Design at the ETH Zürich and EPFL aims to build an innovative urban and territorial design education addressing social and environmental challenges both within the city-​territory and across wider landscapes.

The MAS serves as a laboratory and a forum where we propose agendas, design strategies, and governance models for concrete territories. Both Swiss and international case studies will be investigated with intensive, ethnographic explorations and in situ workshops. The studies will engage in dialogue with supporting communities, local actors, NGOs, and governance bodies.
