The information below documents my expanding architectural skills in areas such as residential construction, project design, CAD software, and 3D graphics.
My work as a construction crew leader for Capital District Habitat for Humanity has given me the opportunity to improve on my leadership skills as well as understanding how building designs become a reality. This position allowed me to constantly improve on my hands on skills by learning new techniques and methods in the field, while also teaching others the correct methods to finish certain tasks. Following the construction plans according to the architects needs and codes has shown me the attention to detail needed, both in planning and building, to construct a project. The constant managing of unskilled volunteers was an everyday challenge, but it was one that taught me a lot about the determination it takes to work through adversity. My goal everyday was to make sure that they were completing their respective tasks, while also learning valuable traits that could be used in the future.
My year as a residential drafter at Faber Homes taught me the responsibilities and resolve needed to complete a project on time in a fast pace setting. Implementing a project correctly for a satisfied new home owner was a great accomplishment for me. My four years of education at Alfred State College taught me the importance of time management and how to become a more successful and educated employee. The summer internship at O’Brien & Gere gave me the experience in working in a large Architectural firm. All my design projects trained me to become a better developer, for both residential and commercial properties. My experiences so far have allowed me to excel in the coordination of a multitude of activities, while also showing me the importance of constantly learning from those around me.
