Tracing Time

The Elderly come to the center in search of a sense of belonging, a sense of safety and comfort with some control and dignity; for social interaction with some privacy and intimacy. For a space to evoke a sense of belonging, it has to be familiar, familiarity comes from leaving a trace! How can architecture, materiality and light come together to enhance the imprint of the elderly through time, their presence in the space, their daily routine and their movement?

From temporary to permanent, from immediate to ones that accumulate over time and usage, different traces are left by the seniors in the space. This idea of trace is further developed in the architecture itself where the space starts aging with the user. Those traces are embraced and turned into beautiful features highlighted through light.
