During the design process for the house ML there was always a constant volumetric experimentation. The concept is based on a central distribution through a patio interrupted by a bridge. The patio constitutes memories from the Latin-American colonial house typology. We created a statement on vernacular and regional thought, but with deep investigation on contemporary aesthetics and experimental forms in relation to the design program.
The patio breaks the house into two prisms that are conceptually united by a bridge and conceptually folded by a concrete ribbon through all the house, from front to back. It generates visual constraints and constructive unfolds in a true dialogue between interior and exterior. The program allows the partition for this volumetric study and a separation of public and private spaces.
The project represents a deep study on perspectives, openess and transparencies. Red, gray, and white colors emphasize the aesthetics about the use of different materials not normally used for residential projects, but they conjugate warmth and spatial quality.
