Norvatis Campus Basel
The project envisages a full renovation of the existing building WSJ-310, a
sustainable work from the ground and expansion to satisfy all the future needs for
the FMI group.
For this purpose, the whole building including the facade, will be completely
renovated and the current atic structure dismantled, while keeping the operation
of the animal delivery on the ground floor conected to the Ando building. The
feasibility study planed the construction of new elevator, shafts and all necessary
structural upgrades, covering the FMI's space requirements, because of this the
building will be raised by two storeys.
In order to create a technical infrastructure that meets the current needs of the
users and guarantees long-term maintenance of value, the entire building services
are to be newly constructed. The main uses of the FMI in the building WSJ 310 will
be laboratories with separate evaluation areas, animal husbandry (rodents and
fish) with laboratory rooms, office space and public areas.
The BIM system is beign actively used for the planning, but it was also used on the
feasibility study phase, providing fast examples and high quality solutions, making
it easier to explain the different approaches of the project to the client.
