This project emphasizes on the lighting design of a presentation space in a campus building of an interior design school. The existing building structure gives ongoing problems where too much natural light coming into the area, and the echoes of sounds coming from different open spaces create distractions when people would like to do presentations.
In order to tackle both issues, an approach to effective ceiling design using liquid crystal glass is implemented in the two-tier suspended curved ceiling. With this special type of glass, it helps in controlling the amount of sunlight that goes into the room. At the same time, the suspended glass also helps in lowering the ceiling height, making it possible to reflect the sound and contain the acoustic of the space in a desirable way.
