Students were tasked with adapting a building for a new use. In my design I focused on a design that was targeted at University students, specifically Akron university students and a younger generation, which lead to designing a mixed used building to attract a wider array of people. A driving force behind the design was away to bring more diverse group of people to downtown Akron and make them stay there. So I chose to design a student housing building that provided different amenities that might not be found in other places, like a skate-park and rooftop restaurant for students. The Cultural Center that was later designed was meant to work with this building.
