The Ukrainian classic cuisine restaurant is located at the terminal of Sikorsky International Airport Kyiv, one of our city’s gateways.
The project was accomplished in one and a half months after a complete building renovation. The task was to create a stylish European interior opening Ukraine to the guests of the capital city while also including authentic traditions in their up-to-date presentation.
Poppy flowers and a field of wheat are the landmark symbols of Ukraine. In addition, ceramics and timber are instrumental in creating a family-like and cozy ambiance.
The restaurant space is open and filled with light. The wall behind the bar is made of ceramic elements in classic colors. These handmade tiles designed by loft buro replicate the necks of Ukrainian folk jugs. All lamps in the hall embody the image of a poppy field. The material is the ancient glassworks traditional for Western Ukraine. The decorations of the bar stand façade, serving counter, and the lath performs the suspended light shed as a tribute to the standard roofing material.
Light fencing around the restaurant space symbolizes single wheat. It is made of steel and chamotte brick with a wheat head pattern. The wallcovering in street-art style looks at the Ukrainian Cossacks’ history and way of living, echoing Ivan Kotlyarevsky’s poem “Eneida.”
