The upcoming 10 billion USD Changi Terminal 5, part of the expansive Changi East development, marks the biggest expansion in the airport’s history. Following a competitive selection process, renowned firms KPF and Heatherwick Studio were chosen to lead the design of this transformative terminal. Set to be built on a 1,080-ha greenfield site, T5 will be larger than the existing terminals and will increase Changi Airport’s total capacity to 135 million passengers annually. Connecting over 200 global destinations, the project will solidify Singapore’s status as a premier international aviation hub. Construction is expected to begin in 2025 and be completed by mid-2030, featuring a three-runway system and a network of inter and intra-terminal tunnels. With innovative architecture, including a vast green roof, advanced digital systems, and sustainable design, T5 is anticipated to generate 40,000 jobs and boost tourism revenues by 1.5 billion USD annually.
