In groups of 8, each group was assigned a certain material. There were latex, hydrocal plaster, concrete, wax and paper mache. Our group had the honor of working with hydrocal. Considering the material's ability to harden fast and it's clean finish, we were able to construct a magnificent structure. Our task was to cast various parts of our studio with our given material to construct a space that is stable, structural and appealing to the eye. With our material, we tested it with various cloths and methods of casting. We ended up dipping light cotton bedsheets into the hydrocal and placing them against our studio walls until they harden. When all the walls and roofs were done, we assembled them together and made a vast space that spanned at least 8 feet. Despite how thin our walls were, it was strong enough to hold up four of our members.
