In medical terms, when we are faced with an immediate situation, we respond to the circumstance that is monitored by our stress responses, which are regulated by a general adaptation syndrome. Physiological conditions include sweating, paling, flushing, and an accelerated heart and pulse rate. During this immediate situation, we react without evalutating our actions, hence “flight or fight.” Currently, our social interactions are driven by technological advancements. We use the “fight or fight” method (in the virtual context) to either entertain or ignore the situation in relation to our private “space.” imPULSE will further instigate this idea within the framework of an actual physical space of interaction by considering our primal approaches and responses to the situation presented.
