An 800-SF house utilizing SIP construction located on the Navajo Nation in Utah. The design was completed by a studio of 20 students, and is a response to the existing shade house on the site as well as the horizontal nature of the surrounding landscape. The plan is organized by pushing the two more private volumes into the larger one that defines the footprint. The volumes are clad in wood, distinguishing them from a largely white plaster interior. Aluminum brows and a cedar screen on the exterior will provide significant shading.
