The new Trades and Advanced Technology Center includes classrooms, workshops and offices for the Sustainable Technology Center. The focus is on teaching construction trades, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, solar, bio-fuels all with a strong focus on sustainable practices. The programs also serves as learning laboratories with interactive design features that include rainwater catchment, solar systems for hot water, electricity, heating, and air conditioning; and wind for electricity.
The 45,000 square foot facility is a LEED PLATINUM certification, it is aiming at net zero - utilizing solar collectors and aggressive energy consumption efficiency.
