New York, NY
The renovation of this 1930 neo-Gothic building is designed to create a destination that supports the Neubauer Collegium's vision for multidisciplinary collaborative research in the humanities and social sciences. While the exterior of the building remains largely unchanged, the interior has been adapted to foster collaboration among multidisciplinary teams from around the world and to provide space for sharing humanistic scholarship with the wider public. The building includes spaces for public events, exhibitions, and presentations, collaborative spaces of varying size and capacity, and individual workspaces for researchers. Several historic rooms and many historic architectural details have been preserved. New glass walls provide visibility and privacy in a variety of contexts, transforming the traditional building into a modern-day incubator for interdisciplinary research.
