In the final year of the Masters Program at the University of Kansas 16 graduate students and myself designed and are currently building a 1500 SF residential project with a 500 SF accessory dwelling unit. Us students are in charge of all aspects of the project from design, permitting, construction (plumbing, HVAC, structure, sustainability). This program is known world-wide and this year will complete our 11th LEED Platinum home in the past 11 years. The areas I was in charge of include HVAC, LEED documentation, steel and aluminum fabrication, as well as helping out in all other aspects of the project.
DLA Architects, Itasca, IL, US, Intern Architect
While working closely with a lead design architect, I modeled design concepts for K-12 schools. I collaborated with interior designers and architects in order to create feasibility studies for entire school replacements and phasing plans. Using programs such as SketchUp, Revit, and the Adobe Suite, I created design proposals that were presented to school districts for approval. I also did research into sustainability and health programs such as LEED and the WELL Building standard.
