Pulte Group, Inc., Fairfax, VA, US, Interior Designer I

- Designed interiors of model homes for Pulte Homes, Centex Homes and Del Webb communities, nationwide with full range of selections, including FF&E.

-In addition to successfully implementing the set design schemes used and crated by our team of designers, I also created multiple unique schemes that have been used in models over the last 4 years.

-Space planned dozens of floor plans, highlighting floor plan efficiency, proper egresses and best uses of space for the customer with a firm knowledge of AutoCAD.

-Presentations were designed per model showing the unique design of that house. I was also responsible for often presenting to the teams, receiving feedback and editing the design as needed.

-Designer of the presentation template, in PowerPoint, used for every presentation made by the department.

-Responsible for managing model merchandising budgets with a successful track record in remaining under budget.

-Traveled all over the country to “install” the models, often, multiple homes at once. In doing so, I oversaw the warehouse team, furniture placement, art placement and theming/merchandising. I also would be the primary contact between the division, warehouse, construction team and any onsite deliveries.

-Made “Interior Selections” for model homes including, but not limited to, hardwoods, carpet, granite, tile, etc. based on the products offered by that division in keeping with the design scheme selected for that home.

-Based on the policies and procedures of The NPDB-HIPDB Data Bank sector of Health and Human Services, I identified and resolved issues communicated over the phone by customers.

-Communicated clearly and calmly, walking through step-by-step instructions to insure the customer’s question and/or problem was answered in full and that the policies in question were understood.

-Responsible for documenting each call with the identification of the caller, their question and/or problem and the resolution.

I was accepted to the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in 2004. After a year of studying fine-arts and developing a portfolio, I applied to and was accepted into the Interior Design School, graduating in 2008. There, I studied commercial interior design under many wonderful professors who were each practicing architects, interior designers and artists. It was through this school that i was taught space planning, AutoCAD, hand rendering, abstract thinking, and also was given the opportunity to be apart of a summer internship with LITTLE. I was given a strong foundation in design and I grow from that those lessons each day as a designer.

GALA 2010 Award Winner | Interior Merchandising Detached Home | 7,000 Sq. Ft. | Under $450K, 1st Place

In 2010, I designed three models for Pulte Group, Inc. in the Mid-Atlantic region that were nominated for the GALA. One of those models, the Pinewood at Stafford Lakes in Fredericksburg, VA, won for best Interior Merchandising in its size and price bracket.

*The Great American Living Awards program is a prestigious residential design, sales, and marketing competition in the metropolitan Washington area.
