The thesis proposes a framework defined by the characteristics of tectonics, boundaries, and transition. All sites have a history and specific characteristics that must be examined and understood during the design process, however, many of these elements are forgotten once a space becomes inhabited. The exposure of these features can begin by looking at the idea of a scaffold as an impermanent means of viewing something as permanent as a building. Designing a temporary way of dwelling and experiencing the spaces that were not intend to be inhabited will allow the forgotten to be noticed again. Through seeing an experiencing space from a vantage point that it was not designed to be viewed from, we can encourage people to rethink their preconceived notions about buildings and question their knowledge about what they know as “space.”
