Tagore Gallery

Once an abandoned taxi garage in a rundown 19th century factory building, this space was redesigned into an art gallery devoted to the exchange of ideas between Western andiron-Western cultures. The heavy timber framing structure was highlighted with old ceiling joists and utilities exposed and left open to view. To create a dialogue of contrasts the floor was refinished with polished concrete to accentuate tensions between the existing and new, industrial and organic, textured and smooth.
