This project seeks to create a neighborhood within a neighborhood to facilitate different interactions through architectural devices.
There are three neighborhoods within the project. First is a portable storefront, which allows various programs to occupy the ground floor consecutively. Currently, the portable storefront operates as a grocery store that can be dispatched into the
community to help address the food desert in West Franklinton. The store's food is
supplied through collaboration with Franklinton Farms (an organization dedicated to providing fresh produce to Franklinton residents).
The second is a microcosm of the American suburban neighborhood, where the street, porch, and house have become different zones for guiding circulation.
The third is a collection of roof typologies that draw historical connections to the different programs. Thus, it creates visual distinctions between the programs within the building.
These three different neighborhoods come together to generate new experiences and create a more connected community.
