My name is Kalyssa Alynn Dawn Singleton (KADS), and I was born and raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma. When I was younger, I spent most of my time in dance class, watching cooking/housing shows, and researching any curious questions that were bound to pop into my head. I was a Valedictorian of my class, and I often tutored Algebra after school hours. I also competed in art contests as I have always had a natural coordination/eye with the Arts.
Directly following graduation, I decided to move to Oklahoma City, and I had a dream to become a professional dancer for the NBA. So, I put in the work and time and made it happen—I was a Cheerleader for Oklahoma City Thunder for 2 years. At the end of my second seasonal year, another dream arose: dancing for the NFL. What did I want to be? A Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader of course! I spent all my time preparing for this moment, and I knew this is what I wanted next. So, I made another exciting move to Dallas, Texas to fulfill my dreams. After an entire summer of preparations, audition processes, and television recordings, I finally achieved my goal.
Once I had multiple years dancing for professional sports on my resume, it was time to move onto my next journey of life. When Covid hit, I decided to make use of my time and resources, so I decided to finally go to school since I never had the chance in the past. I was accepted into UCLA Extension in 2020, and I completed my Certificate in Interior Design and Architecture in June 2022. I am educated in Design programs such as CAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and rendering programs such as Enscape, Lumion, and SU Podium. I realized this Certificate wasn’t my stopping point- It was just the beginning of a new passion and journey.
Currently, I am enrolled at SMC as a full-time student to complete General Education requirements and transfer to a university to finish a B.A. in Architecture with a minor in Interior Design. In addition to a newly found passion in Design, I have found a passion in learning for education’s sake. Other things I enjoy: traveling the world, physical fitness, cooking, and learning from others.
