Ir. Jaakko Erik van ´t Spijker, MSc.
Jaakko van ´t Spijker is an architect and urban planner who lives in and operates from The Netherlands. After graduating from Delft Technical University in 1996, in over 15 years of professional experience, Jaakko van ´t Spijker has been involved in a large variety of projects, both inside and outside of The Netherlands. Jaakko operates from his architecture practice jvantspijker – office for open specific design. and  is partner in the master planning consultant CULD.
After starting his professional career working for the vaious Dutch offices OMA, NACO and Nio architects, Jaakko co-founded the Rotterdam-based start-up studio Sputnik. As a partner in Sputnik,  Jaakko wrote the Theoretical book Snooze (published by NAi publishers in 2003) and has overseen the design and construction of projects among which are  the Villa 100 in Emst, Achterhaven housing in Rotterdam and Erasmus University Campus in Rotterdam (all built or under construction). In 2006, Jaakko set up CULD together with landscape architects and urban designers Juurlink [+] Geluk. In CULD Jaakko has been project director of the Kaohsiung Waterfront Revitalization master plan in Taiwan and master plans for the revitalization of several large urban areas in Abu Dhabi, UAE.  Jaakko van ‘t Spijker teaches in the masters’ program of the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and has lectured in many places inside and outside of The Netherlands.
