Taking the initiative to learn new methods of design and fabrication at Parallel has given me the opportunity to get involved and create new roles for myself in the office and in the shop.
This is Line, designed by artist Leo Villareal for Moma Ps1 in Queens, NY. This piece consists of thirty-two LED light fixtures that go along the top of the courtyard’s wall at PS1. Displaying a sequences programmed by Leo.
When I first entered Parallel in the fall of 2011 I was part of the fabrication and assembly of this project. After a damaging UL inspection this summer, I have been in charge of restoring Line. Close to half of the piece had to come down for redesign and fabrication. This project was also my first introduction to programming.
