Jose Sanchez Reyes is a U.S. born and trained architect with over 20 years of professional experience.  José’s extensive experience includes many notable international residential and commercial projects of all sizes, from skyscrapers in Shanghai to oceanfront residences on the rugged Nicaraguan Pacific coastline.

A graduate of Pratt Institute, José was hired as project designer for Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in New York City.  After seven years at KPF, José moved to Central America and in 2005 established José Sanchez Reyes Arquitectos.

Based in Nicaragua, JSR Arquitectos has specialized in luxury residential projects for both local and international clientele and is known for use of a rich material palate and a minimalist design aesthetic that heightens the experience of tropical living.  José’s designs are sensitive the natural conditions of each client, program and project site.  José believes that timeless architecture emerges from an open, collaborative process where the owners and project stakeholders co-create inspired design solutions.  JSR Arquitectos has been recognized as one of the premier full-service architectural firms in Nicaragua and has been awarded numerous design awards.

In 2018, José expanded his reach to the U.S. and co-founded Konover Sanchez Architecture Studio, LLC, based in Florida, where he serves as Design Principal.  Collaborating closely with owners and developers, this new firm has assisted in the site selection, project conception, feasibility, design and construction administration of luxury multi-family residential and mixed-use projects in urban settings.

Jose is a graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn where he obtained a Bachelor of Architecture Degree with honors. Jose also received a grant to study architectural research at La Première Rue in Le Corbusier’s Unité d'habitation in Briey-en-Forêt, France. After starting his own practice, Jose earned a post-graduate entrepreneurship degree at INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.

In 2018, Jose was a co-founder and design principal of Konover Sanchez Architecture Studio LLC, a new entity based in Florida focusing on refined residential and hospitality as well as mixed-use developments throughout the United States.

Jose is a frequent guest lecturer and design jury member at American University in Managua.

Jose lives with his wife and three daughters in Nicaragua and Florida and is an avid ultra-marathon runner.
