My thesis was an investigation into urban housing and how buildings can change to
meet the needs of the tenants. The form was derived from site factors and the context
of the area, while the ordering was derived from patterns from native american
pottery. The main idea was to have a vibrant ground floor with functions that would
both support, and be supported by the residents as well as being a place for other
area residents to gather and interact. The individual units were meant to be totally
flexible and could even be combined to provide nearly unlimited interior living
configurations to meet the changing needs of the people inhabiting them.
