The SmallPox Hospital is located on Roosevelt Island. This site was given to us students for repurpose. There were no rules as to what we could choose to do with the standing ruins, except for one, which was we could not get rid of it completely.

         I chose to design a Community Center. My idea for this was to make it an attractive place where the community can gather and have different events. The structure of the building was designed to keep the existing ruins standing while adding new materials to where there is gaps. The interior is all concrete, while the exterior is glass with the old stone walls.
