In collaboration between slip/KMS (Kasi Munoz-Schnell), a sponsorship from ASLA - San Diego Chapter for 3 installations (progressing in scale). Starting with 'Chair Bombing' at various locations throughout the City of San Diego.

The implementation will be for 3 different scaled tactical interventions.

A. Chair ‘Bombing’ highlights the deficiency of people friendly landscapes due to absence of seating in civic spaces and neighborhoods.

B. Roll Off: can be transformed into various iterations/forms of parklets. Assembled off-site and delivered to location/event. Showcases the need for more pedestrian oriented streetscapes and better designed public rights of ways, by creating mini parks along sidewalks.

C. Car-Free Block Party: An opportunity to show a large scale demonstration of pedestrian oriented landscapes by registering the entire length of the sidewalk to 32’ wide, with pop-up shops, a program of open spaces and

San Diego Canyon Lands, San Diego, CA, Intern Landscape/GIS Designer

Worked with SDCL and the neighborhood of City Heights on creating way-finding on surface street connectors between canyon trail systems. Field analysis and reporting on existing conditions of surface streets. Suggest design interventions to aide in way-finding. Design a pocket park for the City Heights neighborhood - Quince Street.

Supervised over 30 field operators and five crew leader assistants during field operations. Coordinated and conducted mandatory training of staff through classroom instruction, practice interviews, and on-the-job guidance. Assigned location based duty areas to employees, observed employees in the field, and provided on-the-spot assistance and supervision. Performed location finding and verification of addresses utilizing Department of Commerce - Census physical maps and proprietary handheld GPS devices.

Generated AutoCAD construction drawings for a commercial interior design firm focused on restaurant, retail, and commercial tenant improvement projects. Conducted field measurement activities for commercial spaces up to 100,000 sq. ft. in preparation of interior design build outs, as well as transferring measurements into AutoCAD to represent as-built conditions. Organized sheet sets for construction documents in preparation for submittal to the City of San Diego Development Services department. The participation of leading scholars and critics allowed the generation of authoritative and thorough analysis to counterbalance the plethora of commentary that too often only scrapes the surface of the subject. The second goal of the symposium was to provide practitioners and theorists with a platform to share ideas, experiences, knowledge, and skills. The symposium was an occasion tp explore new ways to look at the subject matter, setting the stage for the next phase of its development.
