Sustainability Laboratory Urban Garden (SLUG) is a collaboration between the University of Arizona: College of Architecture, Planning & Landscape Architecture (CAPLA) and City High School + Paulo Freire Freedom School (Shoe City). With the idea of urban renewal, the SLUG repurposes one of Tucson’s downtown Historic Alleyways into a place of student/teacher learning. Between two public school buildings, the SLUG redevelops the clients exterior exit egress pathway (120' long by 12' wide) into a sustainable garden and courtyard space with Laboratory components that express Learning Pedagogies.

The emphasis of this studio was the exploration of team work & collaboration; design and fabrication: from concept design, schematic design, construction documents, design development to shop drawings, and budget analysis, which contributed to the final design and build of the project.
