Innovative high-quality home design. John K. Karhu Architect P.C. has established a reputation as an award-winning residential architectural firm producing successful projects working in close collaboration with our clients. Although we are a design-oriented firm, we also endeavor to provide the personal and professional service our clients expect and deserve.
We have designed custom homes, luxury homes, builder homes, townhouse communities, mixed use and condominium apartment buildings totaling well over 3500 homes in New York City, Long Island, Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester County, Rockland County, Putnum County, Orange County, Connecticut, California and nationwide.
Many of our projects have won design awards from the American Institute of Architects, National Association of Home Builders, local municipalities and state agencies.
Our work includes custom homes, additions and home remodeling for private homeowners, luxury homes for high-quality home builders and best-selling townhouse communities, mixed-use and condominium apartment buildings for major development firms. The majority of our work comes from long-established repeat clientele.
In addition to high quality home design, we are known for our superior technical abilities and experience, resulting in competent and highly buildable construction documents. We provide in-house structural engineering, assuring proper coordination and functioning of the structure and mechanical systems.
We have completed projects conforming to LEED and Energy Star "green" design, incorporating energy-conserving systems , methodologies and renewable materials to reduce energy consumption, energy costs and to reduce environmental impact.
We also have extensive experience in innovative, site sensitive land planning, often on difficult rocky and steeply sloping sites and have completed hundreds of feasibility studies for our clients. We have designed numerous clubhouses and recreational facilities for housing communities. We are familiar with and have been actively involved in the arduous environmental and governmental approval process for major developments.
We would enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to collaborate with you on your next project.
