Team A has worked with St. Paul’s Church by-the-Lake over the past few years to provide greater accessibility to their existing facility. During the first phase, the front entrance was renovated to include a permanent ramp that blends in with the existing architecture. The second phase included a renovation of existing bathrooms and an accessible interior route between the Church and Parish Hall. The accessible connection between the adjacent structures presented an opportunity for reflection as one passes through the space. Natural light, from clerestory windows, is reflected off of unseen painted surfaces above and wash the curved wall behind the crucifix with a soft reddish hue. The glass railing includes an embedded pattern that recalls the wallpaper motif behind the church altar and is also consistent with early Anglican tapestries.
