Houser Walker Architecture
Employer:Houser Walker Architecture is seeking to add an experienced Senior Project Architect to our studio, someone who will work directly and collaboratively to lead complex and challenging projects.
This is a salaried, exempt position. Salaries are commensurate with experience and ability to create value for the studio. If using the AIA Compensation categories, this position would align with an Architect III or Senior Architect depending on expertise.
For this position, we are ideally looking for the following experience:
A professional architecture degree is required. Licensure or Registration is not a requirement of the position but is highly desirable.
A strong design portfolio, including the ability to build upon and develop designs holistically. Conveying your process is especially important.
A minimum of 10 years of quality experiences working for architectural firms, ideally with a background working with forward thinking, cultural and institutional clients. Experience as a Project Architect for civic, cultural, and academic projects over $10M should be noted.
A history of project leadership, including leading multidisciplinary consultant teams through complex, challenging, fast paced projects. You will be responsible for the technical design aspects of projects, including detailing, coordination, investigation, and development of design concepts. Project Architects at HWA typically stay with a project from day one to the day it closes out.
Excellence in communication abilities, both with clients and internal teams. This includes design concepts, graphics, written, and verbal communications.
Proficiency in using Revit and other technology tools to help develop working drawing sets as needed.

We currently use Sketchup, Revit, Rhino, SpecLink and Adobe packages as part of our set of production tools. If you have experience with these, please let us know. However, we’re more interested in what tools you use as part of your work.
