Dattner Architects is looking for a talented and professional Sustainability Project Architect with experience designing large scale, sustainable, urban projects.  Working closely with our Director of Sustainability and individual project teams, the Sustainability Project Architect will lead the integration of sustainable principles into our work, with an emphasis not only innovative ideas, but also implementation and impact through benchmarking and iterative modeling of sustainable strategies. The role will liaise with clients, consultants, and our own Sustainable Practice Group to develop design strategies in their pursuits of higher building performance. With this new role we are expanding our ability to serve our clients in critical areas of sustainability, including operational and embodied carbon reduction, circular design, resiliency, and environmental equity.

 Required Skills & Experience

  •  Bachelor or Master of Architecture with a passion for civic architecture
  • 8-12 years' relevant experience working on large, sustainable architecture projects
  • LEED Accreditation, PHI or PHIUS trained, Parsons Healthy Materials Lab accreditation preferred
  • Experience researching new technologies and systems
  • Experience Developing and implementing project-specific sustainability strategies,
  • Experience on as part of design and/or sustainability team for projects deliveries, including coordinating certification documentation (LEED, Passive House, Envision, WELL, Fitwel) and sustainable analysis (including Whole Building LCA, daylighting analysis, and similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage/coordinate projects (or defined portion of a larger projects) from concept through construction documentation; and assist during construction administration, punch list, and close-out/installation
  • Excels in collaborative environments, actively contributing to group goals, fostering a positive team spirit, and valuing diverse perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently generate original ideas and solutions, and to follow through on details.
  • Resourceful and self-motivated and willing to learn, exchange ideas, and teach others
  • Strong aesthetic sense and design sensibility
  • Self directed and detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and work on various project typologies
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Work well independently and with project teams
  • Outstanding graphic, 3D presentation, and production skills
  • Proficiency with Revit, including Insight, Tally, or similar plugins and Adobe Creative Suite 
  • Familiarity with NYC/NYS regulatory and life safety codes 
  • NYS Architectural Registration preferred
  • Authorized to work in the United States 

Compensation

$80 - $115k commensurate with experience.
