Job Summary:

Aquilo Interiors is seeking an Interior Architect | Job Captain who wants to embark on a thrilling journey into the world of design. Just as the ancients harnessed the power of the wind, we at Aquilo Interiors channel the same energy to revolutionize spaces.

We're a dynamic, avant-garde Interior Design Studio, specializing in daring, eclectic, and meticulously curated designs. As an Interior Architect | Job Captain you'll be at the forefront, reporting directly to the Principal Designer.

We seek an individual capable of working autonomously, managing multiple projects effectively, assuming responsibility for their tasks, and demonstrating strong delegation skills.

Your mission: Provide crystal-clear communication, advance architectural solutions, and drive multi-disciplinary projects. This role blends operational and technical prowess, demanding top-notch teamwork and a proactive attitude.

Essential Duties:

Project Management:

  • Swiftly tackle architectural queries and requests from the team and contractors
  • Monitor construction quality to ensure it aligns with the approved construction documents and specifications.
  • Perform site inspections and inspections of materials and workmanship.
  • Address and resolve issues that may arise during construction.
  • Facilitate communication between contractors and stakeholders to reach solutions.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of project finances, contracts, and communications.
  • Participate in OAC meetings and compose notes, gather follow-up details from GC, promptly reporting to the team
  • Ensure all records are organized and easily accessible.

Project Planning | Timeline | Schedule Management:

  • Develop a detailed project plan with clear objectives, milestones, and budget.
  • Monitor and enforce the project schedule to ensure timely task completion.
  • Keep a comprehensive project timeline up to date.

Budget Management:

  • Monitor and control project spending to stay within the allocated budget.

Drafting:

  • Lead architectural design and drafting. Maintain organized drawings, and uphold CAD standards
  • Create detailed architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings that specify dimensions, materials, and construction methods.
  • Create construction details for critical areas, such as building envelopes, connections, and special features. Prepare detailed project specifications that outline materials, finishes, and construction standards.
  • Review and revise construction documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
  • Address any discrepancies or issues.

  • Distribute finalized construction documents to contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities as required.

Leadership/Mentorship:

  • Delegate duties for completion by junior staff or outsourced teams
  • Assist with training on new standards as needed.
  • Provide regular updates to the team, daily when necessary.
  • Schedule site meetings as required, with clear calendar marking for team awareness

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture or Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in residential and/or commercial design
  • Proficiency in office, design, and architectural software, such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and GoogleDocs
  • Expertise in interpreting drawings, blueprints, and plans, with the ability to revise drawing sets expediently
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Advanced experience with construction, millwork, and design terminology
  • Advanced experience in vendor and construction communication for multiple projects
  • Knowledge of preparation for meetings with clients, contractors, millworks, and vendors
  • Able to manage and report progress and schedules to management
  • Responsive and collaborative in creating a shared calendar for tasks and appointment
  • Experience in organizing samples, client binders, site binders, and project boards
  • Local to San Francisco or Oakland and able to work in the office at least three times per week
  • Organization, punctuality, and attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and interest in interior design
