Join a Top 10 global design firm in our Civic/Public and Transit Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, Urban, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the clients that include transit agencies, public utility providers, the local and federal government.

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our integrated buildings practice. This position will contribute to Stantec's success by planning, executing, and managing medium to large projects using sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective tools and techniques. Our projects typically require both a business and technology focus and often deliver new or enhanced facilities to the clients and the communities. As a senior contributor on our professional Buildings/AE team, you will work independently to assist clients through the beginning of a project. Your experience ensures that you are capable of managing the clients, contracts, technical team, project finance, schedules, and supporting the project pursuits efforts, led by the principals. You will lead the development of integrated design proposals, develop, and manage integrated work plans, manage project financials, and coordinate with clients while leading and mentoring others and collaborating with team members to contribute to the final deliverables.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing complex tasks on medium to large size projects.

  • Responsible to deliver quality documents.

  • Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.

  • Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, potential issues, deadlines, and deliverables; understand the levels of the decision-making responsibilities of the role as a Sr. Project Manager.

  • Maintain client relationship.

  • Lead the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.

  • Assist the Principal-in-Charge in the negotiation and development of project agreements.

  • Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.

  • Oversee development of building documentation in modeling software such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD)

  • Mentor Assistant Project Managers and motivate project teams.

  • Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.

  • Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.

  • Manage and track change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.

  • Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.

  • Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.


Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Knowledge of managing all phases of AE projects including project delivery methods.

  • Capable of executing and delivering small, medium, and large projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Capable of simultaneously supporting one or more Principal’s in Charge on multiple projects.

  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.

  • Team player with the client, entire project team, and contractor.

  • Effective negotiator and communicator.

  • Skilled in facilitate internal and external project team meetings, monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, conflict, and prioritization.

  • Adaptive and strategic.

  • Strong skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects; Prefer experience with Revit.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.

  • Must be a California licensed architect.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the architectural-engineering industry of which minimum 7 years of experience as a project manager in architectural-engineering firms.

  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP a plus.

Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
