Design Manager

RBD is seeking a Design Manager to work within our project design teams, directly supporting a Senior Designer. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded, highly organized self-starter, who thrives in a fast-paced and detail-oriented environment. Key attributes include: Strong attention to detail, propensity for strategic planning & problem solving, ability to lead communication and coordination across a full project team, ownership of revenue management and reporting internally and externally, and a strong understanding and love for interior design and the design process.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Admin:
Establish & build trusted client relationships
Ownership & delegation of project task management and schedule planning across multiple active projects in partnership with Senior Designer
Manage agenda for weekly design team meeting in collaboration with Senior Designer
Attend weekly project strategy meetings with Principal, Studio Director & Sr. Design Manager
Guide articulate, organized and transparent communication over the lifespan of the project
Oversee project quality control and enforce RBD standards
Contribute to development of training materials and RBD standards
Revenue & Budget Management:
Oversee project budget management & tracking
Review financial aspects of active projects for internal and external reporting
Manage purchasing budget estimates, analyses and retainer requests
Review project timesheets and prepare monthly service invoices
Lead client communication around budget planning, expectations and regular reporting
Design & Execution:
Ensure team efficiently stays on task, schedule and budget
Mentor & support design team on construction documents, construction administration, specifications, purchasing, tracking, and installation preparation as needed
Participate in on-site meetings with owner, consultants and contractors including installation as needed
Requirements
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience in Interior Design, Architecture or related field
5+ years of project management, client services, and/or construction administration experience
Collaborative attitude, analytical mindset, organized, articulate communication and strong attention to detail
Quick learner with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Google Suite
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup or similar design software
Familiarity with Asana, Studio Designer and Quickbooks a plus
Minimum of 3 days in San Francisco office per week
Full COVID-19 vaccination
