West of West is looking for a talented person to join our Portland studio. 

As an architect at West of West you will develop and manage design-driven architectural projects in all phases. You will participate in and oversee the architectural aspects of a project from concept through construction while managing project workflows under the supervision of studio leadership. You should be intimately familiar with the needs of commercial projects including zoning and building codes, permitting, detailing, and working drawings, and you should have successfully performed this role in the past.

You are confident, knowledgeable, and reliable. You are independent and proactive, and excited to bring your talents to a growing young design studio.

This role is for work on major building repositions and new ground-up creative office projects and experience in both is required. The capacity to work closely with other project partners--owner, contractor, consultants--while promoting and maintaining good relationships is required.

What you’ll bring:

  • 8+ years of experience with Construction Administration experience
  • Rigorous technical understanding paired with strong design and aesthetic sensibilities

  • Ability to meet aggressive deadlines while maintaining project quality

  • Deep knowledge of SD-CA phases

  • A documented history with working drawings 

  • Revit skills

  • B. Arch or M. Arch degree

  • Strong critical thinking

  • Independence and responsibility

  • Confidence and experience

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
