Gehry Partners, LLP is seeking a Resource Librarian to manage the firm’s materials library and to collaborate and coordinate with design teams and vendors. This opportunity will allow you to immerse yourself in an active and creative environment while working with design teams to explore, procure, and specify materials and products for domestic and international projects. It is the ideal position for someone who seeks to be at the forefront of innovation in architecture and design.
The successful candidate will be required to work in the office to organize the materials library and communicate with design staff. The position can be structured to allow a flexible or hybrid work arrangement. We are open to discussing both full-time and part-time arrangements.
Responsibilities
Organize and archive material samples and maintain an updated database of products for both general and project-specific use
Research new and innovative products and materials (via design journals, manufacturer websites, etc.) for general reference and as directed by project architects, teams, and partners
Keep abreast of the firm’s current and upcoming projects and brief design teams on relevant products and materials
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and manufacturers
Review products and materials with manufacturer representatives to determine their quality, custom capabilities, and price points in relation to others in their respective divisions
Mentor Library Assistant to develop research skills and product knowledge and to support the Resource Librarian and design teams as requested
Skills
Understanding of architectural and design processes, materials, and finishes (understanding of interior design materials and finishes is a plus)
Established relationships with manufacturer representatives and understanding of manufacturers’ price points, lead times, and custom capabilities
Enjoys research into new materials and products and interfacing with others
Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects and commit to deadlines
