Robert Young Architects is a small, fast-growing, award-winning architecture studio working out of a large sunny space by the Highline in West Chelsea. The firm is seeking talented individuals that can thrive in a collaborative studio atmosphere. The individual must be highly creative, passionate about design, and have the ability to turn ideas and concepts into reality.

We welcome candidates who are interested in working remotely, provided their location allows for them to come in to the NYC studio periodically for collaborative sessions, meetings and all-staff events, and visit  jobs sites, which are primarily in the tri-state area.

While nobody knows what the workplace will really be like post-Covid, we see this as an opportunity to re-invent the way we work, with a primary goal to maintain a balance between the efficiency of solo work and the many benefits of collaborative working.  What does RYA’s flex/remote workplace look like?  It’s evolving, but at the moment, with omicron surging, everybody is working from home again, relying on the usual technology for collaboration. The next chapter will inevitably be some form of flex/remote, with people coming in as it’s safe and practical to do so. Come join our team and help us re-invent how we work!

RYA guides every project from conception to completion with passion and commitment. We practice architecture with a pragmatic approach and through creative exploration each project evolves into distinctive possibilities for each site and the client’s needs. Our mission is to create compelling, practical and original architecture for informed clients who care deeply about the spaces where they live, work, learn and play.

As a Project Manager at RYA you will be empowered with responsibility for your projects from conception through completion.

We are looking for someone with the following qualities:

  • Delegates work while maintaining responsibility for results.
  • Enjoys being a mentor to junior staff.
  • Ability to communicate with our clients clearly, professionally, and positively.
  • Well organized, with the ability to work on multiple projects at once.
  • Well versed in construction detailing.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of consultants.
  • Supervise the construction administration phase.

Qualified candidates should have at minimum:

  • 5+ years post graduate professional experience, with experience in a small to medium sized firm focused on private residential projects similar to ours.
  • Professional degree in Architecture from a US accredited school.
  • Experience as a Project Manager reporting directly to a partner, with the day-to-day responsibility of managing relationships with the design team, clients, consultants, contractors, and others.

  • Proficient with other software such as Bluebeam, Word and Excel.
  • Experience managing staff production, including responsibility for managing staff time and expenses to provide contracted deliverables on budget.
  • Current work authorization, if not a US citizen.

Salary offered will be commensurate with experience. RYA offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time employees.
