KieranTimberlake is currently seeking a Design Technology Specialist to join our team. Our design practice includes over 90 professionals with diverse backgrounds and is recognized worldwide as a sustainable design leader. We are a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment and US Architects Declare.

 
Responsibilities  
The Design Technology Specialist will be a member of KieranTimberlake’s Research Group and will work alongside peer-mentors in Design Computation, Knowledge Management, and Visualization toward a blend of nimble design practices and efficient project delivery methods. They will be responsible for applying their understanding of modeling workflows and design documentation principles to support architectural and research project teams. Their regular activities will encompass the following:

  • Advancing office-wide BIM use and elevating BIM literacy
  • Collaborating with project teams on modeling best practices across all project phases
  • Developing digital tools and computational solutions for building projects
  • Evaluating emerging modeling, simulation, and visualization workflows
  • Conducting BIM training for designers at all levels
  • Stewarding BIM standards, execution plans, templates, tools, and digital content libraries
  • Leading office-wide initiatives with office Knowledge Manager and Visualization Specialist
  • Engaging in interdisciplinary brainstorming sessions across a wide range of topics, including building performance, environmental justice, human health, post-occupancy evaluation, and many others

 
Qualifications 
The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, curious individual who wants to be part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team and can demonstrate:

  • A degree in architecture or other design-related field
  • At least 3-5 years of experience using BIM for design and construction
  • Expertise in Revit, Rhino, and visual scripting software (Dynamo and/or Grasshopper)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Capacity to ask questions, draw out insight, and synthesize ideas
  • Eagerness to learn and share new methods and skills

While not required, additional consideration will be given to individuals with:

  • Proficiency in or desire to learn languages (C#, Python, and/or JavaScript) and application programming interfaces (Revit API and/or RhinoCommon)
  • Familiarity with visualization workflows (Enscape, Lumion, and/or VRay)
  • Familiarity with content management and collaboration platforms (Autodesk BIM360, Avail, Kinship, Sharepoint, and/or Unifi)
